- when Barry Hansen played this record on KPPC in October, 1970, the secretary told him he had to be "demented" to play it; the next week, Steven Segal introduced him on the air as "Dr. Demento" and the name has stuck since
- since this is the record that gave Dr. Demento his stage name, it's interesting to note that his real name is mentioned in the lyrics ("pass the claret to me, Barret")
- Red Blanchard added the car noises using a 1936 sound effects record. This same sound effect has been used on other popular records.
